Roland (Rollo) Armstrong (born in May 1969 in London) has an honours degreee in philosophy.
He's Taurus and has a habbit of talking around subjects.

Four years on and Rollo's writing and production skills had brought him sales in excess of 5 million singles.
This dosn't include his remixes of 3 UK number ones (Simply Red, Linvin' Joy and Gabrielle)
and 4 top tens. (2 x Pet Shop Boys, M People and Donna Summer).
Also included are four bona fide House classics -
Kristine W "Feel What You Want", Gloworm "Lift My Cup", Frankë "Understand This Groove"

"Salva Mea"

Dear Friends of Cheeky,

Originally this records came out before "Insomnia" and while all you DJ's

But now, after the succes of "Insomnia", "Salva Mea's" time has come.
It has already repeated "Insomnia's" succes in Germany (it's currently top
5) and it's about to be released right across Europe.

The double pack includes (a) the much sought after WAY OUT WEST
REMIX,
(b) the new deep en thorough DEEP GOLD MIX by myself
and Sister Bliss, (c) the SISTER BLISS REMIX which 90% of you DJ's
caned lasted time around and (d) the FLOATING MIX which I still hear in

I really, really love this record and I hop it does something for you.

Sister Bliss (Ayalah Bentovim) Songwriter, producer remixer and keyboard player Top
Sister Bliss' Solo-project

Sister Bliss a.k.a. Ayalah Bentovin

Sister Bliss Sister Bliss Sister Bliss Sister Bliss Sister Bliss Sister Bliss

Biography

In 1987 Sister Bliss discovered house music and a healthy interest in the sound and lifestyle ensued.
A pianist since the age of 5 it was a natural progression that not only did she start the spinning tunes on the dancefloor,
she knew she could create her own.
DJ residencies at the cream of London clubs and a fistful of demo tapes
leads to a meeting with Rollo and the spark that was to fire up many a club anthem began.
"Life's a Bitch", released under her own name, was a huge club and chart hit.
It firmly established Sister Bliss as a force to be reckoned with.
Sister Bliss is the kind of person who built a shrine to Jim Morrison out of onion peel and stale bread,
joined the Woodcraft Folk (lefty version of the Brownies) and hitch hiked to Turkey in the style of "Thelma and Louise".
Sister Bliss on Faithless:.... "Faithless sits somewhere between triphip,
dance and good old fashioned song writing, with more than a twist of London grit.
When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; For there is in London all that life can afford.
"Reverence" is a journey through the external world of urban experience, to the intense world of faith, love and fear."

Maxi Jazz (Maxwell Fraser) Textwriter and rapper Top

Maxi Jazz

Biography

The grand oral desseminator. In 1983, Maxwell Fraser (Maxi Jazz) found hip-hop.
In 1984 he founded "The Soul Food Cafe System" and DJ'd around the place spreading the vibe.
He re-invented the experience for the radio station LWR as "The Soul Food Cafe Show" in '87.
Over 2 years, "The Soul Food Cafe Band" was picked up
by Tam Tam Records (dance wing of Savage Records), which was followed by a spell at acid jazz.
Maxi Jazz started his own label in '92 "Namu Records",
to release the band's material in the form of three critically received E.P's.
Throughout this busy time Maxi had been touring the band around the world;
with Jamiroquai in Amsterdam, Soul II Soul in Barcelona,
Galliano in Switzerland, and Jason Rebello in Brazil.
On his own he covered France, Norway and the UK,
and took time out to collaborate with Jah Wobble on the "Invaders Of The Heart" album followed
by live dates with the Wobble collective. Metting up with Rollo in the studio,
lead to the forming of Faithless with Jamie Catto and Sister Bliss.
Enlightening conversations bore the fruit of intense and challenging lyrics dipped in the dark hue
of Maxi's life and rediscovered in the music of Faithless.
As a Nicheren Shoshu Buddhist, Maxi's strong beliefs and the band's own strong individual beliefs,
lead to the name Faithless.
Maxi's other great love besides his faith and music is his Ford Escort MK 2 RS 2000.
Her buddah name is "The Orchid Room"; her street name is "Biscuit".
All listeners to Rodigan's early reggae show will recognise the reference.

Jamie Catto Textwriter and singer Top

Jamie Catto

Biography

Jamie is a 36 year old singer songwriter who comes from an integrally different musical background.
A lover of Tantra, The Passion Sacred Sex (but has little or no self discipline) and Ayub Ogada.
Jamie doesn't listen to club music ("...except for when Rollo makes me").
So his style of singing and writing comes from the traditional school,
which blended in the Faithless movement, transforms into something unique and beautiful.
Some people say he's quiet, others will say he listens.
He has been arrested in nearly every European city for possesion of Cannabis. which shows his love for travel.
"My mum came into my bedroom and told me the piano teacher was here. I was four." That's how he got into music.
He became the singer for "The Big Truth Band" andtoured for four years nationally and internationally.
This was followed by a time with "Gabrielle Roth" as her hand drummer.
And now a meeting with the three that have become Faithless,
for Jamie to add his own personal touch, insight and purposeful vocals.
"Faithless is how we all get close to Rollo without him noticing."

Jamie has left Faithless and started his own band 1 Giant Leap

Dido Florian de Bounevialle Armstrong Rollo's sister. Songwriter, producer and singer Top
Dido's Project Dido Pictures

Dido

Biography

Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong was five when she stole her first recorder.
This didn't lead to prison, but rather to her entrance one year later to the Guildhall School of Music in London.
A bit of a child prodigy, by the time she was 10 she played piano, violin, and the aforementioned recorder.
Her teenage years were an interesting mixture of stealing her brother's record collection (from The Clash to Gregory Isaac's to Duran Duran)
and touring the UK with her classical music ensemble and then, at 16, she finally fell in love... with Ella Fitzgerald.
So began a passion that eventually led Dido from listener to participator. She started singing with various bands in and around London,
and despite the fact that her brother, Rollo, told her not to give up her day job,
she eventually appeared on the debut album of a band that Rollo formed in 1995.
This band was faithless, and they went on to sell in excess of five million records.
Over the next two years, Dido toured with faithless (a very different experience from her classical days) and,
whenever she was back in London, also recorded demos of her own songs. On Faithless's current release, Sunday 8PM,
Dido appears on two songs, one of which incorporates her own "My Lover's Gone."
Arista records heard these demos at the beginning of 1997, and Dido was invited to the Dorchester hotel in London to meet Clive Davis.
The meeting was successful (Clive even helped out with some of the backing vocals as Dido sung to him).
So began the recording of Dido's debut album, No Angel. The album was produced by Dido,
her brother Rollo (obviously now deciding she should give up her day job), Rick Nowels and Youth, and what a beautiful album it is.
Unified by both Dido's stunning voice and lyrical acuteness,
the album travels through various and diverse styles ranging from the impassioned magnificence of "Here With Me,"
the gentle soulfulness of "ThankYou" (featured in the recent Gwyneth Paltrow movie Sliding Doors),
the deep dubbiness of "Honestly ok," to the lyrical perversity of "Don't Think of Me."
Combining Dido's love for warm acoustic sounds and her brother's fascination for beats and all things electronic,
the album is both new and classic at the same time. Above all,
it is the quality of the songs that will make this album both durable and successful.
Dido will shortly release her debut solo single in the USA, the epic, wide-screen "Here With Me" (mid May),
shortly followed by the release of her eclectic album "No Angel" (June). She is currently on a massive promo trip
throughout America where she will be performing key acoustic gigs
with a stripped down-whacked out band of acoustic guitar, bass, percussion and DJ scratch/mixer.
Dido will join the fantastically successful Lillith Tour in America later this year.
Dido has a gorgeous melancholic, lilting voice and some extraordinary flowing, witty and ultimately charming lyrics.
You will have discovered a taste of things to come from the album sampler
and a little of her beautiful Islington/Dublin features from the picture samples. The American press has broadly welcomed Dido.
From cool style tastemakers such as Bikini and Interview Magazine
to the all-powerful women's magazine Elle (USA) to Time magazine & Entertainment Weekly.
Dido, as you know, is the sister of the multi-talented Rollo (owner of Cheeky Records & founder
of the million selling group Faithless, remixer, producer and he can write upside down).
Henceforth she was signed to his little (but successful! ) UK independent label Cheeky.
Being cheeky we directly approached the King of the music industry Mr Clive Davis,
owner of Arista Records (discoverer of Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, BabyFace, Whitney, Toni - the list goes on).
And guess what, Dido became the first direct signing to Arista USA from the UK in over ten years.
If $ spend is anything to go by in music (which it is not!!!!!) then a confident spend of over a 1/3 of million dollars on her first video,
should at least signify theirs and our belief in her international success.
The first video is directed by The Academy, who are responsible for groundbreaking videos from The Verve (Bittersweet…),
George Michael & Mary J Blige (AS) etc. The UK will be hearing from Dido in Summer/Autumn 1999.
But be the first to appreciate more UK talent. We look forward to your response.

Pauline Taylor Pauline Taylor Pauline Taylor

Biography

Pauline Taylor has a love for songs and songwriting with aheavily traditional approach...
meaning, you're gonna get lyrics with passion and relevance and music with bite.
So where has this gift sprung from? Rollo was on the search for that elusive fantastic voice that would bleed soul,
depth and guts all over his own stunning music; and what does the bugger do?
Well he goes and finds it, in the diminutive form of Pauline Taylor.
She enters into the Cheeky dance-fold where she gives it up on a huge range of material,
entering the foray of artists challenging your preconceptions of genere and capability,
through her powerfull and ground breaking musical style and lyrical observation.

Robert Dougan (Rob D / Rob Dougan) Songwriter, producer and singer Top

Rob Dougan

Biography

Back in 1995, Australian Rob Dougan exploded onto the music scene with one of the most innovative and
breath-taking sounds of the year with his Mo'Wax release of "Clubbed To Death". It took people by complete surprise,
not only because it is an outstanding piece of music, but that it transcended genres in one great sweep.
Everyone made it their 'single of the week'.... Rob has done a lot of music writing, production and remix with Rollo,
under various group names, including One Tribe Featuring Roger, Our Tribe, O. T. Quartet and Rollo Goes Camping.
He has produced similarly epic pieces for Andrea Parker ("The Rocking Chair") and
more recently for Nick Cave "Soon" and co-written Sister Bliss "Hard Times" (on the single Sister Bliss: Cantgetaman, Cantgetajob)
and the song "Jump" on the Kylie Minogue album.

Kristine W (Kristine Weitz) Songwriter and singer Top
Kristine W's Page

Kristine W

Biography

Kristine W's incredibly diverse musical talent is a natural gift.
With a mother and father who were both great singers and performers in their own right,
it was only natural that Kristine would follow in their footsteps.
Kristine's father, Victor Duane, was an accomplished singer, performer, songwriter
and musician who died before his star could rise as a country singer. Kristine's mom, Donna Lee,
supported Kristine and her 2 brothers and sister by performing live for audiences
primarily throughout the Northwest - singing and playing the guitar.
Kristine got her start in her church choir in a small town in Washington state
and began performing in public as a child with her mom for special events.
Kristine was crowned Miss Washington and competed in the Miss America pageant
where she won the swimsuit and talent competitions.
She used the money she won from that pageant and moved to Las Vegas
where she could combine her desire to perform with her goal of getting her college degree.
Kristine was graduated from the University of Las Vegas (UNLV) with a degree in television production.
While going to school full-time, Kristine began performing in various venues throughout Las Vegas.
After graduation from UNLV, Kristine formed her own band
and began performing live around the world and she hasn't stopped since.
When she wasn't out on the road, Kristine worked in the Los Angeles area at Jam Power Productions where she honed
her songwriting and production skills while working on both her own material along with the work she did for other artists.
During this time Kristine had several very successful 12" records on Atlantic Records.
In 1996, Kristine's major label debut album was released on RCA Records in the United States
and on Champion Records throughout Europe.
The album has been released worldwide on various other labels that licensed the album.
The album was the most critically acclaimed dance album of 1996
and allowed the entire world to discover what Las Vegas locals and visitors had known for years:
That Kristine W is a truly extraordinary and unique artist who has worked long,
hard hours perfecting her many musical abilities
including her singing, songwriting, production and musicianship.
As Kristine herself says about music in general and about her music specifically, "Music is an escapism.
It can either be used as a positive escapism or a negative escapism. . .
My thing is I always want to do something positive."

Matty (Matthew Benbrook) and Paulie (Paul Herman) (Skinny) Songwriters, producers, guitarists and singers Top
Skinny's Project Skinny Fanclub

Skinny Skinny

Biography

Matt and Paul originally and literally ran into each other while exploring India in the summer of '96'
and immeadiately clicked with each other's twisted humour and bizarre intrests.
In the belief that their meeting was one of those traveller experiences,
they were genuinely surprised to bump into each other yet again.
Not however, in somewhere as exotic as Delhi, but in Finsbury market, North London.
Both discovered that the other had pursued their passion for music, although in quite different genres
and it was decided to give it a shot together. Skinny had been fertilised..........
The Skinny embryo was beginning to develop at a rapid pace, sped along by an idea,
a theme that would carry Skinny into further realms of blurred reality and sharp fantasy...the 'Weekend'.
It was both fiction and biography all at once.
A two day sample of a young guys life and the peaks and troughs that ensue.
Yet 'Weekend' has become more than it's sum, through the craft,
humour and pure originality of electric music oozing from it's creators.
Each track, although inextricably linked via this warped concept,
can stand alone as a powerful and individual piece of music....
